The BPCC had claimed responsibility for the kidnapping and later freeing Nagendra Singh. The self-styled zonal in-charge of the organisation, Nitesh Kumar, took the responsibility of kidnapping the engineer over the phone and said that the abduction was executed due to non-payment of levy by the contractor.

Police forces have been deployed in the village and combing operations have been intensified in the area to trace out the criminals involved in the attack.
