Archbishop's statement exposes hidden agenda of Church: BJP

Published on:

State BJP spokesperson Pratul Shahdeo today said that before Christmas, Archbishop Felix Toppo's demand from the Hemant Soren led government to make a minister from a Christian community exposes the hidden agenda of the Church in a complete way. “It is reported that some church officials in Jharkhand do political intervention while their responsibility is only to propagate their religion and do social work within the scope of the Constitution. But once the Archbishop calls the formation of the Hemant Government a Christmas gift, now after a year, they demand a Christian minister in the Cabinet,” he said.

Pratul said that BJP says from the beginning that even during the election, fatwas have been issued by some religious leaders to political parties in the areas of Khunti, Simdega, Ranchi, Gumla, Latehar and Santhal Parganas. “Large-scale religious conversions take place under the guise of social service. Now the Archbishop openly moved beyond his religious sphere and started raising political issues, which is condemnable,” said the BJP leader.
