Referring to over 40 children abducted by the rebel groups from the villages of Gumla and lohardaga, DGP Rajiv Kumar has said all efforts are being taken to bring the children back from their clutches.
According to the DGP intensive operations will be started again in the area, which has been discontinued for the last few days due to heavy rain.
“Intensive operations have been conducted in the area which will be intensified soon in a day or two in order to bring the kids back to their homes. Besides bringing them back, we are also keeping them in separate lodges at the district headquarters in order to rehabilitate those kids so that they could be inducted into the mainstream,” said the DGP.
According to the official records of the police department, as many as 40 kids have been forcefully taken away from the villages of Bishunpur and Kisko Police Stations of Gumla and lohardaga. No FIR so far has been reported in this fearing that the kids may be killed by the rebels.
The hunt however, is on against the rebel Dinesh Gope who is said to the kingpin behind the abduction of children in order to expand their cadre strength. Children are generally used for spying and as courier boys in order to transfer consignments from one place to other. They are also used sometimes as a human shield to protect from the security forces in case any encounter with the security forces happens.
The DGP also said that state police has also intensified the operations against the CPI (Maoists) in other parts of the left Wing Extremism affected areas as directed by Home Minister Rajnath Singh during the meeting held on June 27 with the DGPs of the 10 Naxal affected states including Jharkhand.
Singh had also asked them to raise ‘special forces’ in the lines Greyhounds of Andhra Pradesh from within their respective police. He also directed the badly-hit Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Bihar and Odisha to take the lead in raising these ‘special forces’ which, other states may follow later.
