Anti-encroachment drive begins in Daltonganj

Deputy Commissioner of Palamu K Srinivasan has directed the circle officers to remove encroachments on public land on National Highway 75 and 98, dotted with numerous ‘line Hotels' which park commercial vehicles on public land thereby increasing the risk of accidents.

Two NHs 75 and 98 pass through this district while encroachment is blatant on NH 75 near the Chiyanki More and similarly on NH 98 at Parwa More. Illicit sale of petrol is done right three-feet away from NHs in Palamu. Here petrol is sold in one litre, two litre of bottle on the sides of NHs. The DC said encroachments would be removed and it would be better if encroachers on their own remove the encroachments. A similar drive was also launched in 2015 and encroachments were removed from public land. Circle Officer Sadar JK Mishra said, "On the first day of the drive on Thursday Kutchery area, Chhoumuhan area, Zila school area were freed of the occupation."
