Manjhiaon police on Friday arrested third accused in connection of the rape and hushed up delivery of a 14-year-old girl who studied in a Government residential school, Manjhiaon. The police on a tip-off arrested management committee president Lal Bahadur Pal from Manjhiaon bus stand. He was absconding since a week after lodging FIR, said Police Station in-charge Rannvijoy Singh.
A Class VIII student of a government residential school, gave birth to a baby boy on June 26 this year at a government run primary health centre. Entire incident was hushed up for months till someone tipped the Child Welfare Comitee chairman Upendra Dubey, started probe.
On the complaint of victim police had lodged FIR under sections of 376/370/120B and 201 of IPC and section 4/16 of Pocso (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) Act against five persons, the father of child Chandan Mehta, warden Snehlata Singh, ANM Nirmala Kumari, Dr. Govind Seth and school management committee president Lal Bahadur on December 21.
Prime accused of the case Chandan Mehta had surrendered before the court on Saturday and police had sent judicial custody to ANM Nirmala Kumari after arresting, on Thursday. Police raid is going on at their possible hideout to arrest two other accused warden Snehlata Singh and Dr. Gobind Seth.
