In the scientific and telecommunication era one may call it superstitions but it the practice that is still alive in tribal traditions. Several animals are sacrificed these days with the help of priests to appease God for ‘better crop’ and for ‘prosperity’. Similar incident has come into light at village Amalo under Phusro about 8 kms from the district  headquarter Bokaro.

About 20 goats and 200 cocks were sacrificed during Madai Puja which was observed with great pomp and show at Amalo village. Beside priest Manger Singh, Ward Commissioner Kailash Thakur, Jagarnath Mahato, Babulal Mahato, Puran Mahato, Pappu Thakur, Deepak, Bhikhari Mahato along with villagers prayed for prosperity and good crop.

Recently on last Sunday Madai Puja was also celebrated in the Vanshi Village under Pokhariya Panchhyat of Nawadih block of the district where 11 goats and 151 cocks were sacrificed to please the rain God.

Speaking about the myth of the Madai Puja an elderly woman Sukhmania said, "This is our traditional festival which we are celebrating since 500 years to praise the rain God for best paddy crop."

"Every year God fulfils our all wishes which we kept before the God during the ‘Madhi Puja’. During puja praised God give us their divine blessings for prosperity and happiness,” said Babulal another villager.

The common belief is that if any villager or their family members do not take part in this Puja will have to face the ‘anger’ of the God and their kith and kin would be stricken by small pox or other disease.
