In the wake of sudden increase of naxal activities including attack on security forces and murder of civilians charging as police spy; Jharkhand Police has decided to rework its strategy of counter offensive.
SSPs/SPs of all naxal affected districts have been asked to prepare a ground report on how and where a shift in strategy relocation of deployment is required.
Besides district police has been asked to identify civilians who are vulnerable to rebel’s attack, who are often murdered on suspicion of police informer. In the last six months as many as four civilians were murdered by rebels alleging they were the police informer.
Besides, rebels have also attacked security forces disrupting public construction works.
The police headquarters has directed SSPs besides IG to strengthen intelligence required for strategic operation.
Sources in the police department said that a well-coordinated anti naxal offensive is being planned where police will also track naxal sympathisers. Actions will be taken against such persons who help to the cause of rebels. Over the years Jharkhand police has meticulously studied the funding pattern of rebels and investments made by rebels on the name of their family members and sympathisers.
Besides, rebels also make investment in construction works. In the last two years central agencies like National Investigation Agency and Enforcement Directorate too have stepped into investigation of many terror funding cases related to banned rebel outfits like CPI (Maoist), PLFI and TSPC. Jharkhand Police believes that these are the tips of the iceberg as rebels have changed their strategy.
But Jharkhand Police is facing logistic issues. The post of ADG (Operation) is vacant after ML Meena was shifted to Special Branch as ADG. Similarly,
IG (Operation) Saket Singh has gone on Central deputation. He also holds additional charge of IG of Jaguar. Jharkhand Police is yet to find a replacement for Meena and Singh.
