Deputy superintendent of police Palamau Mukesh Mahto has confirmed the disfigurement of a bust size statue of Ambedkar on Monday night at Kishunpur under Paton block.
Mahto said the statue was vandalised by some unknown people. Mukesh said the fibre statue was cut from beneath and then cast away in a bush. The broken piece of the fibre has been recovered and the statue has been installed at the same place again with all piousness informed the Deputy SP.
It was AJSU which had installed this statue on April 14, 2013. Resentment prevailed in Kishunpur this morning once the news of this disfigurement of statue reached the populace.
The AJSU leader contended that some with the vested interests have done this to vitiate the social harmony in the area during puja time. He asserted that the AJSU would foil any nefarious design of elements behind this. The AJSU has demanded a police investigation. The DySP has assured that police would find out the culprit very soon.
