IMD’s Meteorological Centre has issued an alert of heavy rain in Kolhan, especially in northern districts during the next 24 hours.
“As per our study heavy rain is expected tomorrow in those districts which are close to the Bihar border. Lightning and thunderstorm alert was also issued in isolated pockets of the state during the next 72 hours”, said an official.
The Met Centre on Sunday issued a series of nowcasts of thunderstorms and rain in Ranchi and several other places. Several parts of Kolhan are expected to experience lightning strikes during the next three days, warned weathermen today.
According to the Meteorological office in Sonari, the low pressure is bringing good rainfall in the region and the situation is likely to remain the same in the next 24 hours. The city today recorded heavy showers. Traffic was disrupted as major main roads in the city were inundated. Commuters had a tough time wading through knee-deep water, at some places, to reach their destinations. There is also a fear of an outbreak of water-borne diseases.
