Rajya Sabha MP from Jharkhand, MJ Akbar extolled the Narendra Modi-led Government of National Democratic Alliance while interacting for the first time with the minority wing members of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday in Ranchi and attempted to paint the saffron party into green by labeling the BJP as a pro-Muslim party by virtue of its deeds.
Akbar, who has been elected to the Upper House on BJP’s ticket, held brief discussions with the office bearers of the minority wing and shared the Central Government’s vision for the minorities of India, especially Muslims. The veteran journalist tried to vaporise assumptions of discontent about the BJP by corroborating the friendly attitude of the party with representations in Government jobs.
“In UPA’s rule around 8,000 jobs of the total of around 1-lakh was given to muslims however in last one-year it reached 9,300. So contrary to the claim jobs has increased,” said Akbar adding “This happened because one thing is clear that there will no discrimination on religion”.Akbar went a step ahead with emotional appeal to Muslims seeking them to change their voting behaviour and vote for their betterment instead of trying to strengthen opposition against the BJP.
The BJP-leader critcised the Congress for stalling proceedings of the lok Sabha and hit at the oldest party for being “childish” in their approach towards the highest democratic institution. Akbar suggested that the Congress is the spanner in works of democratic institutions.“They never said that they will not draw a single rupee as salary but they do say that they will not allow parliament to continue. Country is fed up of their tactics,” maintained Akbar.Meanwhile, party workers requested the Rajya Sabha MP to focus on the wellbeing of Muslims of Jharkhand and also help underdeveloped pockets of Jharkhand in breaking the drought of growth.
