Five days of the Monsoon Session are not going to be any easy for the ruling BJP which is facing resistance not only from the parties in Opposition but also from its ally. AJSU party sharing power in the State has come out in open matching the demands of the parties like JMM, JVM and Congress.
The party, two days ahead of the Assembly Session, has directed its members, four in number, in the House to raise the domicile issue vociferously. “Our parliamentary board has decided to exert maximum pressure on the Government for amending the declared domicile policy. It should be rectified for the wellbeing of the moolvasis of Jharkhand. All our legislators would raise their voice against the declared policy inside the Assembly,” said AJSU spokesperson Deosharan Bhagat on Wednesday.
The State Government had declared the policy approved by the Cabinet over two months back.
Notwithstanding of being represented in the Government through Minister Chandra Prakash Chaudhary, the party outside has been critical of it.
“The party would also organise ‘jan ki baat’ throughout the State between August 8 and 15 to mobilise public opinion against the policy,” added Bhagat parodying ‘maan ki baat’ programme of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
On the other hand, political parties assembled for an all-party meet at Assembly Speaker Dinesh Oraon chamber to reach on a common ground in order to conduct the proceedings smoothly. Following the meeting, the JMM made its intention clear of putting the Government on the mat.
“The Government has failed on all counts; be it law and order or police system in the State. Our party wants answers from the Government on deaths having taken place in police custody, rigged Rajya Sabha election and controversial domicile policy. If they do not pay heed to our concern we may think over even boycotting the futile Session,” said leader of Opposition Hemant Soren.
The JVM that brought out a CD few days ago allegedly containing evidence of ‘horse-trading’ having taken place during Rajya Sabha poll, is also sounding hyper. “We are not going to give any leeway to the Government in the House. They have to respond to burning issues like sense of insecurity prevailing across the State, crime cases in the capital, displacement and loot of raiyati land. But top among the list is the misuse of power to purchase votes in the Rajya Sabha. Now when we have evidence in hand, the issue would be raised inside as well as outside the Assembly,” said Pradeep Yadav.
The JVM in order to exert more pressure on the Government is scheduled to meet Governor Droupadi Murmu on Thursday and later to apprise the Election Commission in Delhi and would hand over the ‘evidence’ for appropriate action.
