The AJSU on Saturday approached Chief Minister Raghubar Das around one-hour before ‘Janta Darbar’ and sought a status for disgraced leader KK Bhagat at par with revolutionaries of Jharkhand Movement apparently to ensure a safe exit for the former MlA from the case which reduced the party’s strength in Jharkhand assembly by one seat.
Party president Sudesh Kumar Mahto and spokesperson Deo Sharan Bhagat raised the demand of SIT probe into the incident which made KK Bhagat lose lohardaga seat.
The party has been raising its demand since the former lohardaga MlA was convicted in a case of extortion dating back to 1993 and was sentenced 7-years rigorous imprisonment by a local court on June 22.
“He went there to seek monetary assistance not to buy shoes but to go to a rally at Patna which was related to Jharkhand Movement. He is an example of how charges slapped against revolutionaries for taking part in the movement if not withdrawn makes them suffer and lose. There are activists whose property has been confiscated and now Bhagat has lost his seat,” said the party spokesperson.
In the backdrop of the party’s loss of strength in Jharkhand Assembly, Mahto presented CM the proposal claimed to have prepared when he was Home Minister in Jharkhand Government to identify people who participated in the movement for creating separate state and also scouting possibility of revocation of charges under which activists were jailed. The AJSU Party expressed that the promise to do so is yet to be honoured.
“It (revoking charges) was decided by earlier governments but it is not happening. There are revolutionaries who are still battling with plenty of cases. Kamal Kishore Bhagat is an example of this and this is the cause for great suffering,” maintained Deo Sharan Bhagat.
The delegation also requested the CM to adopt Telengana’s method of treatment for the activists of separate state.
The ally of the Bhartiya Janta Party asserted for an SIT-probe in the 22-year old case of alleged extortion and assassination bid by KK Bhagat, Alistair Bodra and Sudarshan Bhagat on renowned city-based neurophysician of Ranchi, Dr KK Sinha. As Sudarshan’s body was recovered from the premises of the doctor, a counter case was filed by KK Bhagat and Bodra accusing Sinha and his bodyguards of killing Sudarshan.
“The counter case was brushed under carpet. It means that the facts and aspects of the case were not presented and not investigated properly. Murder took place but no one was found guilty. We want these things to be investigated by SIT,” maintained Deo Sharan Bhagat.
The AJSU party spokesperson confided that the CM has assured to summon DGP on Monday to seek details of the case to initiate SIT-probe into the incident.
