AJSU party has demanded some changes in the domicile policy making only those people eligible for various posts at State and district level, who possess immovable and other properties in the name of their ancestors inside the State as per the last survey records. A delegation of AJSU party met Chief Minister Raghubar Das on Wednesday and handed over a memorandum making him aware of the sentiments of the people on domicile issue.

According to the party, the decision taken by the State Government during the Cabinet Meeting was unstable. The party however, lauded the decision of inducting regional and tribal languages in the examinations taken by JPSC and SSC examination in the State.

“Despite that, there are several errors and mistakes in those decisions which need to be corrected at any cost. Some facts must be inducted in those decisions so that it reflects that the decisions were taken keeping the interest and sentiments of Adivasi - Moolwasi into consideration,” stated the memorandum.

The party also demanded that some weightage must be given to the regional and tribal languages in the examinations taken by JPSC and SSC and some marks should also be demarcated separately for written and interviews.

The party also demanded that there must be a provision of interviews in local languages for those vacancies which are to be filled at the district level. The memorandum further added that students having ancestral properties in the state as per the last survey record must be given priority in the admissions at Government and non Government organisation.

The memorandum also referred to the committee on Jharkhand Matters which was formed in the year 1989 for making suggestions for the formation of Jharkhand which said that the primary reason for disappointment and displeasure among were discrimination in providing employment to the people of this region.

“The Committee further added that mega projects like HEC, MECON, Coal India and other private industries gave a boost to the aspirations of the people of this region but it was found that the employment was mostly given to the outsiders, neglecting the people living in the region,” stated the letter. The Committee demanded that at least appointments to grade 3 and 4 must be freezed for the local people, it said.

The Committee, according to the party, calling it a socio-economic problem reported that “Apart from its other dimensions, basically, it is a socio-economic problem and that it has arisen as a response to the exploitation of the indigenous people inhabiting the Jharkhand region".

They requested the Chief Minister to understand that Jharkhand was not a normal state but a state which has been carved out of Bihar following sacrifices and movements made by thousands of people of this region.
