AJSU delays list till Thursday

Carefully gauging the political upheaval in the BJP, the Congress and the JMM, the AJSU party delayed the announcement of candidates’ names for the coming lok Sabha elections till Thursday.

Party spokesperson Deosharan Bhagat, speaking to the media said that the list will be made public after its Parliamentary board meeting on March 13. Meanwhile, a delegation of the party met Governor Syed Ahmed demanding CBI enquiry in the killing of its General Secretary Tileshwar Sahu on Saturday.

“The parliamentary board of the party will sit together on March 13 where the names of the candidates will be finalized,” said Bhagat. According to Bhagat, several applications have been received regarding the candidature for the Parliamentary seats in the forthcoming elections which will be shortlisted in the parliamentary board meeting after a discussion with the board members, he added.

Bhagat however, refused to comment on the probability of party Chief Sudesh Mahto being considered for Ranchi Parliamentary constituency. According to a party insider, Mahto might be a candidate from Ranchi as party workers are keen to knock the centre through a representation in the Parliament.

According to a recent grapevine in the political corridor, the party will also be waiting for the disgruntled stalwarts from other political parties who might be fielded from their strongholds.

Speculations are also rife on Ranchi MP Subodh Kant Sahay joining another political party, if denied ticket from Congress. Sahay has been camping in New Delhi to convince the central leadership to ensure his ticket from Ranchi Parliamentary constituency.

A discussion also took place for the candidature of Chatra Parliamentary constituency on which Tileshwar was supposed to be a probable candidate. Final decision on Chatra will be taken during the Parliamentary board meeting on March 13.

Meanwhile, a delegation under the leadership of Ramgarh MlA Chandra Prakash Chaudhary met Governor Syed Ahmed demanded CBI inquiry into the killing of Tileshwar Sahu and ensure adequate security to his family members as well. The delegation also demanded to provide security to all those leaders who are under the threat of Naxal attack.

The party will also be organizing a condolence meeting on March 12 on the spot where Sahu was killed in Barhi, Hazaribagh to be attended all the MlAs, leaders and office bearers and party workers.
