AJSU alleges Cong' non-performance for its debacle

Rejecting failure of strategy for its debacle in the lok Sabha Elections, AJSU party has alleged Modi wave for its poor performance in Jharkhand. According to the party Vice President Praveen Prabhakar, non-BJP parties had to bear the brunt of Congress’ non-performance across the nation in these elections. The party however, believes that the current results will have no impact on the coming Assembly elections.

“It’s not only the AJSU but other parties like BSP and SP in Uttar Pradesh, already having remarkable representation in the lok Sabha, that had to face debacle in this Modi wave,” said Prabhakar. No single non-BJP parties across the country could perform this time due to Congress party’s anti-people policies and non- performance during the last ten years of rule, he added.

According to Prabhakar, as it was the first serious attempt made by the party in these parliamentary elections, it could not be considered as a loss for them, he added. Moreover, despite a Modi wave, the party has got sufficient number of votes in this election which is a clear cut indication that people have not rejected the party out rightly, he said. “Despite having sufficient votes in our favour, we could not take a lead on any of the seats,” said Prabhakar. Since it was its first ever experience in the lok Sabha Elections, the party does not consider it as a major loss and has decided to take lesson from it.

The party however, will sit and review the reasons behind the debacle and try to give a face-lift in future by taking lessons from these elections, he added. “It’s time to introspect and find out where it went wrong,” Prabhkar said. Reacting on the repercussions of these result on the forthcoming Assembly Elections in the state, Prabhakar said since agenda for the two elections are different, it will have no effect on the comingState elections.

“We had a different agenda for lok Sabha elections which was fought for representation in the parliament while Assembly elections, fought on local issues, will have no impact of any wave created at the national level,” added Prabhakar.AJSU party, which contested these parliamentary elections primarily on the issue of ‘special status for Jharkhand’, fielded candidate on nine of the 14 lok Sabhaconstituencies of the state, but could not bag a single seat from any of those. Party Chief Sudesh Mahto, who contested from Ranchi seat, somehow could retain third position getting about 1.42 lakh votes against over 4.48 lakh votes bagged by the winning BJP candidate Ram Tahal Chaudhary.
