Ailing Jagannath Mishra to be shifted to AIIMS

Noticing the not-so-well condition of former Bihar Chief Minister Jagannath Mishra, admitted at Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) since September 30 after hearing his conviction in this case, the hospital authorities have decided to relocate him at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS).

According to sources, the veteran congress leader is suffering from meningitis, diabetes, hypertension, prostrate gland and By-pass surgery problems.

RIMS Director Dr Tulsi Mahto on Monday said, “Jagannath Mishra’s condition is mota moti thik thak (not so good). So, our medical board consisting of the seven doctor team looking after this patient has decided to refer him to AIMS or to any other government recognised medical institution outside the state.”

“The date is not yet fixed as we have informed the matter to the Birsa Munda Jail authorities. It will then be conveyed to the state government after which a final decision on this re-location will be implemented,” Mahto added.

However, sources at RIMS confirmed that Jagannath Mishra will surely be taken to AIIMS. Mishra along with Former Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) Chief lalu Prasad and 43 others were sentenced for RI on October 3 on the fodder scam by a Special CBI court of Ranchi. Mishra has been sentenced for four years with a fine of Rs 2 lakh.

At RIMS, he is under the observation of a unit head Dr JK Singh in cottage number 11 surrounded by a dozen police personnel. Sources said that Mishra’s children were settled in New Delhi. This may be the reason of his shifting as an aged patient required special family care, they added.
