Annoyed with the poor result of degree part I special 2015 exam students of different colleges locked VBU headquarters under the banner of All India Democratic Students’ Organisation and demanded reevaluation of answer books.
Since VC Prof Gurdeep Singh was not in the headquarters, they sat on dharna in front of administrative building thus hampering the working of university offices.
When PVC Dr MP Sinha came, he was angry at the students but later invited their representatives to talk.
In presence of DSW Rajesh Kumar talk took place between agitating student representatives and it was decided that the matter will be discussed in the next meeting of the examination board. The representatives also raised some other problems on which PVC assured them to take action within two-three days.
Since VBU has started CBCS at degree level from the session 2015-16 so this year a special exam of old part I was taken by the university administration.
Two days ago the result of this examination was published on university website in which about 90 per cent students have failed. VBU administration has taken Rs 700 as fee for this examination and students also questioned on this amount.
The district president of AIDSO Jeevan Kumar said that the present VBU administration do not want to hear the demand of reevaluation.
last year when final results of degree exams were published we produced several answer books having wrong marking but in place of doing justice with the students it made some eyewash decisions only.
Declaring the present administration anti-student Jeevan said that after their last year’s agitation VBU administration stopped the practice of giving photocopy of answer books.
Here it is noteworthy that VBU was taking Rs 1500 for the photocopy while SKMU Dumka is still giving the scanned softcopy of answer books to its students in only Rs 98.
The student leaders sitting on dharna were demanding order to use calculator in part III maths exam, withdrawal of CBCS system till appointment of teachers and availability of infrastructure, immediate election of student union etc.
