In an attempt to increase Credit Deposit (CD) ratio in the State, agricultural sector and Kisan Credit Card (KCC) was the focal area discussed during the 77th quarterly meeting of the State Level Bankers Committee (SLBC), Jharkhand that was held on Monday.

Presiding over the meeting, General Manager, SLBC, Jharkhand, BK Mishra said that all the banks in the State are performing well. Providing banking facilities in remote areas of the State by identifying the villages, they are providing service to the common people through various mediums and the Central and the State government schemes are being worked on priority basis. Mishra said that the issue of CD ratio of banks is worrying so that all banks need to work together on this. In the case of KCC, applications are pending in the banks. Banks are requested to pay attention to all the applications, he added.

CGM NABARD, GK Nair said that the fall in the CD ratio is worrying. This is less than the national benchmark. All the bankers should contribute to increasing the CD ratio.

Speaking on the occasion, Agriculture Secretary, Abu Baqr Siddiqui said that the farmers of the State have to be given the benefit of KCC. “Apart from this, loans are to be made available for dairy and fisheries. Bank should give the maximum loan to it on a priority basis. Application for KCC, Dairy and Fishery loan is pending in many banks. Bank officials will be requested to execute the pending applications at the earliest. In the case of KCC, there is a difference between the figures of the Government and the banks. Due to this farmers are not getting the benefit of KCC. Along with this, the applications that are coming in the bank should also be monitored. Banks have been given a target, try to fulfil that too,” he added.

Addressing the gathering, Principal Secretary, Finance Department, Ajay Kumar Singh said that the contribution of banks in the development of the State is huge. “The State Government is running many schemes to speed up the development of the State. The cooperation of banks is needed in the successful implementation of these schemes. Give priority to the Central and State Government schemes. Do not keep the applications in the schemes for a long time. Get it executed on time limit,” he added.

“Many decisions have been made in the agriculture sector. There are many such schemes in which the participation of banks is necessary. Therefore, banks should also work in the interest of farmers. He said that the fall in the CD ratio of banks is disappointing. All bankers should work together to improve this,” said Singh.

Speaking on the occasion Bank of India (BoI), Executive Director, Swarup Dasgupta said that all banks in the State should give priority to agricultural loans. “This will improve the CD ratio of banks. Give term loans in the agriculture sector. This will benefit both the farmers and the bank. Also, focus on the MSME sector as well, because the MSME sector gives maximum employment in the Country,” he added.
