The Comptroller and Auditor General of India reports on Public Sector Undertakings(PSUs) and general, social and economic sector of the Government of Jharkhand for the FY 16-17, tabled in Jharkhand Assembly on Thursday, find huge irregularities in Jharkhand Silk Textile and Handicraft Development Corporation (Jharcraft).
The report for PSUs has stated a blanket scam by Jharcraft in the tune of Rs 18.41 crore in which the registration numbers of over 95 per cent of the vehicles mentioned in transport challans did not match with the vehicle number mentioned in road permits.
Speaking to media persons in a press conference here on Thursday Accountant General (Audit) C. Nedunchezhian said that the department has a detailed report onJharcraft and its weaving of blankets for the people and it was revealed that the material available for the Jharcraft was not good enough for weaving.
“Hence, we were forced to conduct a lot many examinations, at the end of which, we found in the report that the operations of Jharkhand, as far as the weaving of those blankets were petty doubtful,” said Neduchelian. Then Development Commissioner had ordered a vigilance inquiry which is still on and its report is awaited, he added.
The AG said that it was found that the stock account of yarn was based only on invoices and there was no evidence that the items and quantities were delivered.

The examination of transportation vouchers reveal that not even five per cent of the vehicles mentioned in transport challans match with the vehicle numbers mentioned in road permits,” said Deputy AG Faizan Ahemed.
The officials further revealed that records of three toll plaza stated that a number of trucks returned from Panipat with yarns, the same day after travelling a distance of 4000 kms.
