Palamu administration applied more wit than force to handle the Satbarwa communal disturbances near NH 75 on Sunday to avert any communal tension in the area. The officials here fixed their target to first have peace and normalcy on Sunday itself at Satbarwa than to have passage of Muharram processions out here in this police station on Sunday itself.
Sources said administration first succeeded in breaking the ice of hate on Sunday at Satbarwa and in this way it got enough time and energy to raise its human resources in uniform to oversee the Monday Muharram procession here in this Satbarwa block.
Muharram processions came out on Monday at villages like Taber, Mukta, Karma Bohita Dhawadeeh Sehra and other places and all had their convergence at Satbarwa.
Had this convergence been at Satbarwa on Sunday when Satbarwa was hot and red with communal frenzy one can imagine the catastrophe not waiting any far to strike anymore said sources.
Sources said the administration did not impose anything on the minority community to take out Muharram procession on Monday. It played cool and the majority community and the minority community sat together in presence of administration on Sunday at Satbarwa wherein minority community pressed for Muharram procession on Monday which was most gladly accepted by the administration and the majority community too felt immensely relieved.
Sources said administration got a windfall gain here without doing any extra job.
Deputy Commissioner Palamu Ameet Kumar said, “The decision to take out Muharram procession on Monday was a joint one wherein the majority community too had its affirmation which further gave us impetus to have this procession on Monday instead of Sunday.”
Asked if this had not eased the work of maintenance of law and order a frank DC Ameet Kumar said the results show this as all Muharram processions from different villages have peacefully converged at Satbarwa where peace and normality have returned fast on Monday. DC agreed further that Sunday processions would have more disintegrating quotient than one could have imagined.
Sources said even on Monday majority community made efforts to stall this procession on the ground that Sunday procession cannot be taken out on Monday but with timely civil and police intervention this impediment was removed on Monday.
