Administration gets tough on lockdown offenders

East Singhbhum district administration has gone tough to enforce lockdown in city and outskirts starting with declaration of second phase of lockdown till May 3.

East Singhbhum deputy commissioner Ravi Shankar Shukla and East Singhbhum senior superintendent of police, Anoop Birtharay have framed a new strategy where in the police forces have been advised to be more vigilant. Special focus is in areas like Sidhgora, Baridih, Agrico, Sakchi, Bistupur, Mango, Kadma, Telco, Burmamines, Jugsalai and Sonari.

“ We want people to understand the importance of lockdown. With the beginning of second phase of lockdown and in view of prohibitory order under Section 144 of the CrPC the focus is that people remain indoors,” said an official.

On Wednesday several offenders were nabbed during drive at Sakchi and Bistupur. Sensing the need of complete lockdown during second phase, the district administration has formed 19 surveillance teams for Jamshedpur, Mango, Jugsalai and 11 blocks of district.

The team is maintaining surveillance of the labourers and other residents for the quarantine period of 14 days and if anybody is found with symptoms would be kept under isolation at quarantine centers and their throat swab taken for sample test.

Meanwhile, traffic police jointly with city police could be seen vigilant at most of the commercial hubs seeking information from two-wheelers and four-wheelers about their reason for coming on the road.

Moreover, the administration has made it mandatory for everyone to wear mask (either three-layered or made of cloth) if they are outside their homes. And those violating this rule are being booked by police.

An official informed that if anyone found roaming without a mask will be booked under section 269 (negligent act likely to spread infection of disease dangerous to life), 270 (malignant act likely to spread infection of disease dangerous to life), 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant) of IPC.
