In view of the Ram Navami festival, the leaves of all government officials, employees, doctors and medical staff have been cancelled in the district.

Deputy Commissioner, Rajesh Singh, has issued an official order directing all the controlling officials to not accept leave of any officer, supervisor and personnel from 15 April to 23 April.

The procession of Ram Navmi is also banned in view of the huge spurt in COVID-19 cases, said DC.

“Department of Home, Jail and Disaster Management, Jharkhand has issued a new guideline recently, which will be 100 per cent followed in the district,” added Singh.

The permission orders issued earlier for Yagya rituals, Santali sociocultural programmes, birth anniversary celebrations, including others, are canceled with immediate effect in light of the government's new guidelines.

The organizers were also directed to perform Yagya rituals, Navratri and Ram Navami, without any gathering.

If the order is violated, action should be taken against the organizers as per sections 51 to 60 of the Disaster Management Act and under section 188 of the IPC, said SDO.

Notably, Bokaro sees a significant spurt in fresh COVID-19 cases again; the district recorded 38 new positive Coronavirus cases on Wednesday. The total number of active cases in the district has now rushed to 274, informed AK Pathak Civil Surgeon Bokaro.
