Admin strict on timely completion of drainage, footpath

Ranchi DC Manoj Kumar has ordered agencies — including Public Works Department (PWD) — to complete all drainage and footpath construction works in time-bound manner. While taking a review meeting of such projects under construction in the city recently, he ordered to complete at least construction of rest 11 of the drainage projects out of 36 anyway by end of September. He also ordered Ranchi Municipal Corporation (RMC) and other departments including traffic police to dismantle and remove all their establishments falling in alignment with any of the drainage projects anywhere in the city, some of them within two days.

As par order of the DC, Sudha Milk Parlour, night shelter (Raen Basera) and traffic booth near Ratu Road round-about, another Sudha Milk Parlor at Kali Babu Street, a transformer at NH-23 near house of one Dr. Rambali Singh and some other establishments have to be removed as soon as possible.

However, RMC has shown its unawareness about any such order. “We were not called in the meeting, neither we have got any written order yet. So, any such action can be taken only once we get the copy of the order,” said Additional City Commissioner of the City Vidyanand Sharma Pankaj on Friday. The RMC has to remove one of the oldest Raen Basera situated at Ratu Road among a couple of other establishments.

On the other hand, City Traffic SP Sanjay Ranjan Singh named removing of traffic booth(s) as routine affair. “This is not a big deal. These kinds of small level set-ups use to get replaced as per requirements of civic bodies. Yet, the set-up will be removed by the agency only which put it up there. We generate requirements only and get it,” said Singh.

Executive Engineer told in the meeting that construction of 26 drainage and footpath were completed on time. He also extended hope to get rest of the works done within time. The DC ordered closure of more than 35 unnecessary cuts on Ratu Road, which create traffic problems. He also ordered to get all housing related under-construction projects completed within October 15.
