Bokaro district administration has started sending Covid-19 suspects to home quarantine rather than institutional quarantine aiming to develop confidence among them (migrants).
All total 55 migrant workers returned to Nawadih from Nagpur, Kolkata and Mumbai on Sunday, during screening 15 among them found suspect of Covid-19 were sent to home quarantine, a health department official informed.
We felt that institutional quarantine is making people unhappy and irritable. So the administration has decided to send them for home quarantine until their Covid-19 test reports rushed to us, said the official.
If they tested positive then they will have to go for isolation at COVID hospital or for institutional quarantine, he said.
Among the migrants who sent for home quarantine, 3 returned from Mumbai, 6 returned from Nagpur and 6 returned from Kolkata through walking, informed the official.
We are keeping a close watch on the suspect through regular surveillance by technical monitoring, he said.
Each and every person who is required to observe a home quarantine shall strictly observe the same, failing which they would be liable for penal action and shifted to government quarantine, said Mukesh Kumar Deputy Commissioner Bokaro.
Violators of ‘home quarantine guidelines’ would be booked under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and Section 3 of the Epidemic Diseases Act. “Administration is keeping a close watch on them through regular surveillance by technical monitoring including mobile location, GPS or live location, video calls and by physical verifications,” added Kumar.
Though, Bokaro became the zero Covid-19 districts but in the coming days, Covid-19 may be a big challenge for us as a large number of people (about 21,000) are returning back to their homes.
We have to ensure that we remain a zero Covid-19district. The lockdown will continue until the government decides. Our borders will continue to remain sealed, said Kumar.
Anyone entering the district under special circumstances will have to stay in a government quarantine center. Later they will have live in-home quarantine after they will be reported negative of Sars-Cov-2 virus infection, said DC.
