Deputy Commissioner of Hazaribagh Ravi Shankar Shukla and SP Anup Birthare made a massive surprise raid in JP Central jail along with about four dozen officers and 150 constables late on Friday evening. The raid concluded late in the night and in this raid the team recovered mobiles, chargers, batteries and cash from the inmates kept in different wards of the jail. On Saturday morning a case was registered in Hazaribagh Sadar police station on the statement of officer in charge Jitendra Singh.
Talking on this surprise raid of JP central jail DC Ravi Shankar Shukla said, “We were getting information that the prisoners are getting extra facilities inside and are using items prohibited in the jail premises openly with connivance of jail staffs. Since the information was pouring regularly so we had decided to make a sudden visit of the jail premises on any day and yesterday raided the premises with the team of district and police officials.”
Shukla said that SP Anup Birthare, DSP Chandan Vats, Sahdev Ram, officer in charges of all police stations and other administrative officers posted in the headquarter along with 150 constables reached to central jail on Friday late evening and entered in the jail campus.
