Jharkhand Chamber of Commerce and Industries (FJCCI) and Ranchi district administration convened a joint meeting at Chamber Bhawan on Monday where efforts for keeping a better law and order and order situation during this festive season were discussed at large.

The meeting was attended by Ranchi DC Manoj Kumar, SSP Prabhat Kumar, and SDO Amit Kumar along with the officers of district administration and various police stations in Ranchi.

The SSP, during the meeting informed that one police officer along with a constable will be deployed during this Durga Puja, whereas a team of three police officers with 20 constables will be provided to the pandals attracting heavy crowd so that proper law and order is maintained in puja pandals.

“As many as 192 CCTV cameras are being installed by the district police to be operational from October 15-26. We are also visiting the puja pandals and giving proper directions to them,” said SSP. Kumar also appealed everyone to put a light in front of their homes during puja so that the city gets enlightened through it.

The SSP also stressed on effective deployment of police force.

“We are likely to get some extra police force from the headquarters. After this meeting, I will also hold a meeting with the district police officers and take final decision on the deployment of forces in puja pandals. It is more important that whatever deployment is done, it must be effective which should also be visible everywhere,” said the SSP. Some changes are being made this time in the deployment of police force in puja pandals, he added.

“We are making all efforts to make this Durga Puja and Muharram peaceful for the common people,” Kumar said.

Referring to the traffic problem which might arise due to the ongoing construction of drainage in Ranchi, the SSP said that small vehicles and four wheelers will be stopped at a far away distance from puja pandals by raising effective drop gates.

“Arrangement for temporary parking will be made at a distance from some of puja pandals attracting heavy crowds and small vehicles will be stopped at a safe distance. We will make it sure that only standing crowd reaches to the pandals,” SSP said.

DC Manoj Kumar, on the other hand said that proper rationalization of resources are being done in order to ensure proper law and order during this puja.

“We are categorizing all Puja Pandals being raised in Ranchi on the basis of which whatever resources we have with us like  police force, ambulances or fire brigades etc, will be placed after rationalizing them accordingly… We have been discussing the issue with SSP which is likely to be finalized in the next 2-3 days,” said the DC.

FJCCI President Pawan Sharama on the other hand assured district administration to provide all help from the chamber members and will also provide inputs to the police.

Sharma also appealed to the shopkeepers and other business houses to install CCTV towards roads so that the police could be provided details of each and every activity taking before it.
