The East Singhbhum district administration embarked on a drive for physical verification of the sairat markets in different parts of the city. Acting on the directive of East Singhbhum Deputy Commissioner Amitabh Kaushal, the survey was carried to study the anonymities.
A three-member team led by additional deputy commissioner East Singhbhum Sunil Kumar comprising Dhalbhum SDO Prem Ranjan and Tata lease deputy collector-cum-Jamshedpur circle offer Prashant Bhusan carried survey at Bistupur, Sakchi, Baridih and Sidhgora markets.
The move is expected to renewal of sairat agreement, happening in city after 2005. It will pave the way for renovation and beautification of the existing shops.
As per the rule, shopkeepers were legally not allowed to carry out renovation or alter their structure after expiry of sairat agreement in 2012. The sairat agreements are held every six years in the state.
It may be mentioned that river-ghats, Haat-bazar and other areas from which State Government collects revenue after settlement are known as ‘sairat’.
“The move is expected to bring change. There are 10 sairat markets in city which are outside Tata Steel lease area and I have asked for fresh survey of these market areas to find out if there has been violation of the sairat agreements so that such anomalies can be removed before renewal of agreement,” said Amitabh Kaushal.
The 10 sairat markets in city are at Bistupur, Sakchi, Kadma, Sonari Aerodrome Market, Golmuri, Sidhgora, Baridih, Burmamines and Telco.
