Pathology services along with the radiology in the MMCH Daltonganj are looking up now following a heavy dressing down of it by the Additional Chief Secretary Health Arun Kumar Singh recently.
The agency, which conducts it, seeks online report which causes delay forcing even the poor patient to get pathological tests done outside which is far more expensive than the agency charge.
Sources said the visit of the ACS health has motivated doctors and other personnel to deliver results as the ACS health was not found showing any red face barring where he confronted with dirt and filth.
The ACS has directed civil surgeon Palamu Dr Vijay Kumar Singh and his team to be up for the early intervention centre for babies and children suffering from developmental delays and deformities.
The ACS health was on a one day whirlwind inspection tour of the Medinirai medical college, Medinirai medical college hospital both in Daltonganj and community health centre located at Chainpur on Thursday October 27. It was his pre scheduled inspection thereby giving enough time and space to the civil surgeon, medical superintendent and medical college principal to be up and doing.
Sources said the team did present itself in somewhat limited transparency too.
The ACS asked for the early intervention centre on the plot of land where the ANM training centre is now and which is in dire need of shifting following its being in a very dilapidated condition.
Speaking to the Pioneer, Singh said, "I have directed the civil surgeon Palamu to see that this ANM training school gets shifted into the adjacent GNM complex and then this ANM building has to be razed first for space to raise an early intervention centre there on the same plot of land."
The state government has already sanctioned this early intervention centre for the Medinirai medical college hospital in Daltonganj informed the ACS.
The ACS health was visibly displeased to see the tardy progress of the 500 bedded hospital directing the concerned agency to get it ready by November 10 so that it can be online inaugurated by the chief minister Hemant Soren on the statehood day.
The ACS health was all praise for the community health centre at Chainpur terming it as 'well managed community health centre'. Singh said the CHC Chainpur is doing fine and it needs computerisation for better results. The medical officer in charge of the Chainpur community health centre Dr Chaman Kumar Bhardwaj and his team was most upbeat following this patting of the ACS said sources.
On his inspection about the Medinirai medical college ACS said "Here things were in total mess. The medical college library is too poorly kept. There is the issue of the cook, kitchen and dining hall of this medical college. Cleanliness is a big miss here as the outsource agency is neglecting its work here most."
Sources said the inspection of the ACS health left one message for the doctors and the paramedics - work and work only. There had never come any health official above the rank of the joint secretary in the health sector here in the past 5 years or so. Arun Kumar Singh is the first top echelon officer to have inspected even one community health centre along with the medical hospital and medical college all in just one day on October 27.
