Accident leaves 89 empty oxygen cylinders scattered on road

A pre mid night accident on the national highway 75 at Lahlahey led to scattering of nearly 89 empty medical oxygen cylinders, which Satbarwa police, led by its officer in charge Karam Pal Naag got collected and safely placed temporarily in the police picket at Lahlahey, said sources.

Naag said a pick-up van carrying these empty cylinders hit a tree and these cylinders got scattered.

Sources said had Naag and his team not acted fast after this accident these empty cylinders would have been carried away by unscrupulous people.

Amit Prakash the nodal officer for the medical oxygen said following this accident these empty cylinders were reloaded in another van and left for Ranchi around 6 in the morning for its refill.

Prakash said in other incident a driver who had taken down 74 empty medical oxygen cylinders to Ranchi for its refill on Saturday came back on Sunday in Daltonganj without a single cylinder refilled there.

This officer said the driver got into a tiff there in Ranchi with refill personnel which resulted in no refilling of the 74 cylinders. Prakash said the driver committed not a folly but a crime against humanity by bringing in empty cylinders from Ranchi where he had gone for their refilling.

Prakash cleared the air saying the van, the empty cylinders and the driver etc are all of the local supplier of the medical oxygen cylinders here in Daltonganj and the local supplier is accountable for all these fuss over the medical oxygen cylinders.
