The Anti Corruption Bureau team of Hazaribagh division nabbed the Block Agriculture Officer of Ichak block taking Rs 10,000 as bribe from a person at his residence situated in Matwari mohallah of Hazaribagh town. After taking the BAO in custody the team searched his house and surprisingly seized Rs 1.67 lakhs from his house, all amount in new currency.
According to sources, BAO Uma Shankar Prasad has demanded a bribe of Rs 20,000 from the mukhiya of Dariya Panchayat of the block who had taken a Dobha scheme from the block office. The BAO was not releasing the amount so Mukhiya Basant Mehta informed about it to the ACB and as per the direction of ACB officials fixed today’s date for giving half amount. In the morning he reached Hazaribagh and handed over the money to the BAO. Alert ACB team nabbed him immediately.
After seizer of Rs 1.67 lakhs in new currency from his house the officials informed the income tax department. Investigation was going on till the filing of this report.
