Around 15,000 members of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) from 24 districts will gherao Chief Minister Hemant Soren’s residence with a bike rally on Wednesday against the latter’s ignorance on various student centric needs.

The bike rally will commence from Morhabadi and will cross Radium Road, Albert Ekka Chowk and then reach near CM residence. Briefing the media about the rally, ABVP All India General Secretary Shreehari Borikar said, “There is scarcity of teachers in 43,000 Government primary and middle schools. Since long, the posts of 40,000 teachers are vacant. RTE Act is not implemented properly.”

According to Zonal Organising Secretary of Jharkhand-Bihar Gopal Sharma around 5000 students admitted in various B.ed colleges will suffer due to CM’s announcement to cancel the affiliation of B.ed colleges. “All the government hostels are in urgent need of renovation. There is lack of toilet facilities for girls in most of the hostels. Government should take immediate action to solve these issues,” he said.

The party members have also urged for fulfilling the posts of Principals and Subject teachers in Colleges at the earliest. A list of their demands will be given to CM during the gherao. Intermediate studies should be separated from degree courses, mentions the list.

Borikar on the other side has quoted the ongoing protests regarding molestation of a female student of Jadavpur University as “political conspiracy” and “involvement of Naxalism”. He said, “Whatever has happened at Jadavpur University is not justified. like other parties working for the student’s welfare, we have also written a letter to the Government on conducting the probe soon,” he said.
