Workers of Akhil Bharatiya Janata Party (ABVP) on Monday showed black flags to Vinoba Bhave University (VBU), Vice Chancellor, Ramesh Saran.
As soon as the ABVP workers got the information that the Vice Chancellor arrived Economics department of the University, they gathered near his vehicle and started shouting, “Naxal supporter VC go back” and smear with black ink on his name plate and bonnet of the vehicle.
The activists sat on the dharna protesting from 12 am to 4 pm until Sharan came down. Dozens of police personnel were deployed to control the rampaging demonstrations by the students. Under police force’s protection Sharan went back to his official residence. As soon as his vehicle started to return, the workers started protesting by lying in front of the car, on which the police had to use mild force.
State Organisation Minister of the ABVP, Yagyawalkya Shukla said that today's protest is a warning to Sharan. “The degrees were distributed after wearing black clothes in the convocation ceremony of the VBU in the presence of the Governor, who is the first citizen of the State. Therefore, the ABVP decided that the Vice Chancellor insulted the Governor and he will be welcomed with black clothes until his dismissal,” he added.
Shukla said that on the day of convocation, the Vice Chancellor, who was enraged by the withdrawal of Section 370, immediately canceled the programme without taking care of the safety of 10,000 students. “It is clear example of his anti national mindset. He has also taken money in distribution of degrees,” he added.
