Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) has opposed the changes in the main examination pattern of civil services. They claimed that the inclusion of compulsory English paper will add to the hurdle of Hindi medium students to the elite services.

Demanding for the roll back of the decision, its senior functionary Amitabh Senapati said that as a part of the national campaign ABVP activists staged demonstration across the country. A memorandum to DC in this regard was sent on Monday

As per the changes effective from this year, a 100 marks paper of English comprehension and precise will replace English and Indian language paper which were qualifying in nature and their marks were not included while forming the merit list. Senapati said that majority of civil services aspirants are youths residing in the Hindi belt of the country, who study in government schools and colleges. He said that focus on English will hamper the students.
