The members of Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad of Hazaribagh unit blackened the face of a civil surgeon, Dr Om Prakash Arya, in his office chamber. ABVP workers have also given him the ultimatum to leave Hazaribagh within two days .
Civil surgeon Dr Om Prakash Arya, who joined the office just two months ago, is facing a rough time. His controversial behaviour and working style has always been in the news since his posting. A few days ago a woman doctor has reported against him about misbehaviour and a doctor had alleged that he had demanded bribe. On Thursday, a staff member of ANM Training School, reported against the surgeon in Health Men’s Association that he had misbehaved with her.
On Friday afternoon both the association members and members of ABVP reached to the civil surgeon’s office to have a talk with him on this issue but he refused to entertain them, amid a meeting in his chamber, in which doctors of all the blocks were participating. When chits of both ABVP members and association members were sent in, no one came out to explain that why the surgeon is not in a position to give them time, only flat refusals came out. It irked the ABVP workers and they forcibly entered into the surgeon’s chamber and disrupted the meeting. It is said that some members of ABVP have blackened the face of civil surgeon while some say that association members had done it.
When the media came, the in-charge of Barkagaon block Dr RC Prasad suddenly got angry and threatened the photographers. Other doctors then intervened and controlled the situation. Finally, after an hour, civil surgeon Dr Arya came before the media and apologised. He also apologised about his behavior after a meeting with the ABVP members and association office bearers and especially to the victim.
