Eighteen cops have sought transfer from Palamu.
These cops are using Abhiyan Samman, a programme launched by State police headquarters on June 21 for a period of 60 days to make believe cops, havildars and fourth grade police staff that ‘their services and lives matter most to the senior and top cops of the state’ said sources.
SP Palamu, Ajay Linda said State police headquarters under order of DGP MV Rao has launched this Abhiyan Samman from June 21 to enable constables, havildars and fourth grade staff of police department to say their things to the top cop of the district for their redressal.
A dedicated cell phone number has been floated for this. ADG police CID Anil Palta has issued this order.
Linda said the DGP and his team in Ranchi appreciate the hard work, sense of duty and discharge of responsibility of these policemen during extreme hard times like Corona surge and lockdown phases all over the State.
Linda said these policemen did twin job one for the covid 19 and the other their normal policing and presented a brilliant landscape of their performance. However taking advantage of this Abhiyan Samman 18 police men here have sought their transfer from here.
“As transfer of a police official from one district to another is not within the domain of the SP this matter has been referred to police headquarters for a final call on them” said the SP.
In the same vein Linda said 17 police men have asked for disengagement of them from naxal duty/ operation citing age old pretext of parents’ growing age or their sickness.
Linda said, “I understand a cop looks for an opportunity to prove his mettle and anti naxal operation or drive offers that chance where risk is there but to seek disengagement from anti naxal operation does not fit well with this job for the cops who have so sought this relief.”
“Each of these 17 disengagement seeking petitions of 17 cops will be investigated for the variety of reasons on which this anti naxal duty exemption has been so sought.”
There came 6 requests, which were dealt with suitably by him, added the SP.
Sources said Abhiyan Samman is to boost up the morale of the ground police force but some intelligent men in uniform found in it a way to dodge anti naxal duty demanding posting in some cozy police stations which does not reflect well on their thinking.
