A journey of simplicity, sacrifice and strength !!!

Simplicity has a lot of power, and simple people can have game changing, and everlasting impact.

Today I’m referring to our presidential candidate, and former governor of Jharkhand Madam Draupadi Murmu.

And I can speak about her simplicity because I have had the privilege of meeting her a few times, as my father Dr. Anand Bhushan was Academic Advisor to Madam for three years, when she was Governor of Jharkhand.

“Madam” as we all address her, did some groundbreaking work in the academic, and cultural evolution of Jharkhand. Lot of the improvements/ progress, that we have seen in the academic and cultural space, are a result of her vision, determination, and grit. And I have never seen her taking credit for her contributions and accomplishments. I have just heard her talking about, what is the next big initiative that needs to be taken.

The very fact that she has been nominated to take up the most coveted position in the largest democracy, speaks volumes about her simplicity and leadership capabilities. And believe me, I can keep adding to the list of qualities. And at the core of all this is her simplicity.

Madam is a symbol of deep rooted values. Values that define who she is, and what she would bring to the nation as our President.

Her journey has been that of starting from ground zero, and always being that humble leader, who lives her values everyday, and lives for her people.

Like a true leader, she has often stood against the test of times, to protect the wellbeing and interests of the fellow citizens she was serving. And often this has come at the cost of her individual sacrifices. She has stood like a wall against the negative forces to safeguard the welfare and wellbeing of her people.

While she has made great strides in her journey of servicing the common people of Orissa and Jharkhand, her journey has been about standing tall and protecting the citizens, looking at their welfare and interests, come what way.

Her election for the top post, would convey many messages for the common Indian. A message about, sticking to one’s core values, staying humble, working hard, selfless sacrifice, and that of “simple living and high thinking”, no matter what one has accomplished.

I wish our very own “Madam” the very best and look forward to seeing her as the president of the people of India. “We the people” who can always look up to her.
