A child who lost his family to malaria

On Sunday, Geeta Devi, mother of Aditya of Sekha village of Sadar block, breathed her last. Two day ago on Friday, he had lost his sister Sangita who was only 12 years of age.

Now the eight-year-old Aditya is alone because last year his father Saryu Ravidas was also killed by the same disease ‘Malaria’, which has killed his sister and mother this year.

The family of late Saryu Ravidas of Sekha village was never in a position to get better treatment. They were hardly able to meet the two ends with the help of subsidised foodgrains available under Antyodaya scheme.

On Sunday morning when the villagers came to know that Aditya’s mother has also died they started collecting donations for her last rituals. In the meantime someone informed the district administration about this unfortunate incident, who alongwith SDO Rajeev Ranjan and CO Shailesh Kumar reached there.

They said that the family was poor and all the deaths are caused by Malaria. It is a failure of health department. They also blamed the village local Body members for not informing them earlier. They said that if they have been informed earlier certainly this incident would not have taken place.

SDO Rajeev Ranjan immediately ordered financial assistance for making the last rituals of Geeta Devi and her daughter Sangita. When the villagers asked that what will be the fate of Aditya who is only eight-year-old. Both officers after discussing with the senior officers and villagers said that first they will try to trace out the relatives of this family and if anyone will agree to keep Aditya with his family then we will hand over the boy to him otherwise Aditya will be sent to Government orphanage.
