In order to take mobile connectivity to even most backward and neglected areas the Information and Technology Department has managed to take wi-fi connectivity to over 300 places covering about 900 villages of the State. Most of these places have been lWE areas.

Informing about this IT Director Umesh Prasad Shah said those areas were where private telecom companies did not want to install towers either due to cost effectiveness or naxal issues. “Under a policy the Government decided to go there. Now most of the villages 900 in numbers are being given wi-fi connectivity through these towers,” he said on Friday in ASSOCHAM programme.

Shah also added that under the commitment to go online over 126 Government services have been made paperless which would reach up to 160 in the next 6-7 months.
