“After assessing the condition of the ghats, we have decided to construct nine temporary bridges at Garga Rive because of the areas have become swampy and hence dangerous for devotees to perform the rituals,” said Jha. According to our plan the temporary bridges will be constructed at Gaay Ghat, near Sun Temple at Ranapratap Nagar, Kunwar Singh Colony, Tallababa Chowk, Bhojpur Colony, Kailash Nagar, Gandhi Chowk including others, he informed.  Several water bodies across the city are left choking on idols, puja paraphernalia, plastics and other waste post immersions for Durga puja.

In view of the of devotees traditionally offering prayers to the Sun god dipping into the river the CMC held a meeting in this connection today and issued a directive for cleaning it up on a war footing ahead Chhat which is celebrated with gaiety and fervour.

The administration has asked the officials to identify safe places for Chhat ghats for offering prayers at the water bodies across the city, said Jha.

“We are working hard to ensure safety for  devotees.
