Eight people have been jailed in the Teesibar episode where an irate mob beat up three people from Mushar community leading to the death of one mushar during treatment at Sadar Hospital, Daltonganj, said SP, Palamu, Indrajeet Mahatha
Among the 8 jailed is one woman whom SP identified as Shanti Kuarn, who as SP added, “Inflammed the mob and incited it like anything.”
Police have invoked sections of IPC only against these 8. According to a press note issued by officer in-charge of Pandu police station Sanjay Nayak, two cases have been lodged. Case number 44/18 has two accused Dinesh Kumar and Tulsi Dubey. Police have not invoked section 302 ( murder) of IPC against these two.
In case number 45/18 sections 302 (murder) and 307 (attempt to murder) of IPC have been drawn against 6 namely Fantush Mehta, Uday Koeri, Asharfi Rajwar, Mani Pathak, Laxman Dussadh and Shanti Kuarn.
Other sections of IPC like 147, 148, 149, 341,323, 504 and 506 of IPC are common to both the accused of both the cases.
It did not invoke sections of SC/ ST Prevention of Atrocities Act. Explaining this SP said as among the 8 jailed are a few SC accused too hence this Act of SC/ St Prevention of Atrocities is not applicable. He further said the three Mushars were beaten up by mob most violently for being thieves. None were any beaten for his caste at all.
