The 75th Independence Day was celebrated at NTPC Coal Mining Headquarters, Ranchi on August 15 with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervour. On the occasion, Chief Guest, Partha Mazumder, Regional Executive Director (Coal Mining) hoisted the national flag with a guard of honour and salutation to the national anthem.
Mazumder on this auspicious day remembered and paid homage to those who contributed for India’s independence. He also mentioned that Prime Minister spearheaded the ‘Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav’ as a Jana Andolan to create awareness across India, which commemorates the occasion of 75 years of India’s independence in 2022.
He shared the major achievements of NTPC and NTPC Coal Mining Division.
While talking about NTPC’s digitization initiatives, Mazumder expressed sincere thanks to NTPC Management for its vision and guidance, especially for implementation of digital initiative “PRADIP” for paperless office work. In this direction, the coal mining division is going to digitize about 90 lakhs pages pertaining to all statutory clearances, land documents, railway planning, geological reports etc for all coal mining projects and headquarters. He mentioned that amidst all odds, NTPC has achieved total coal production of 11 MMT during FY 2020-21. In this current FY, coal production is targeted as 13.25 MMT, which is 20% more than last year’s achievement. Coal from our captive mines is in great demand because of its quality, sizing and low cost, Mazumder said.
Mazumder added that, being a new area for mining, it is our responsibility to build a culture that promotes sustainability, cost-effectiveness, performance, concern for others (including Project Affected persons) etc.
