nStung by an unknown insect, at least 70 students of Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBV) in Ramkanda were taken ill, school authorities said on Saturday. .
The students complained of boils on the body, extreme anxiety and itchiness on Tuesday night.
They were administered medicines from a nearby medicine shop, however, it did not alleviate their symptoms, sources said.
At least three girls –Kavi Kumari, Seema Kumari and Babita Kumari—were sent home for better treatment after their condition worsened. The trio complained of severe palpitation, itchiness and shortness of breath. Last week, about a dozen girls of the school were taken ill and complained of similar symptoms. Hostel Warden Suman Agarwal confirmed the incident.
