A group of 70 Christian pilgrims embarked on a spiritual journey to Goa. Under the aegis of the Tourism Development Corporation Limited of the Jharkhand Government, the group, including attendants, set off amidst a ceremony marked by hope and blessings.

Deputy Development Commissioner Manish Kumar officiated the flag-off ceremony, expressing his heartfelt wishes for the pilgrims' pleasant and auspicious journey. In a symbolic gesture of support and goodwill, he flagged off two buses that would transport the pilgrims to Hatia Railway Station in Ranchi.

The pilgrims, all residents of Jharkhand, were carefully selected based on specific criteria. The journey primarily includes individuals above 60 years of age, belonging to the Below Poverty Line (BPL) category, and in good physical health. These meticulous selections ensure that the pilgrimage is both inclusive and meaningful, providing a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for those who may not otherwise afford such a journey.

The pilgrimage, spanning seven days from July 13 to July 19, 2024, has been organized with comprehensive arrangements by the Jharkhand Tourism Department Corporation and the district administration. Every aspect of the journey has been planned with great care to ensure the comfort and safety of the pilgrims.

Manish Jonko has been designated as the nodal officer from the district administration, tasked with overseeing the pilgrimage and ensuring seamless coordination. Alongside him, Hemvati Pinguwa and Sushila Ba will serve as assistants, dedicated to the proper care and assistance of the pilgrims throughout the journey. Their presence will provide much-needed support and assurance to the elderly travelers, many of whom may be embarking on such a long journey for the first time.

As the buses departed from the Collectorate, the air was filled with a mix of anticipation and spiritual fervor. For many of these pilgrims, this journey represents not just a physical journey but a profound spiritual experience. Goa, known for its serene beaches and historic churches, holds significant religious importance for Christians, making it an ideal destination for a pilgrimage.

The initiative by the Jharkhand Government is commendable, reflecting a commitment to promoting religious tourism and providing meaningful experiences to its citizens. By facilitating such pilgrimages, the government is also fostering a sense of community and spiritual well-being among the people.

“ As the group of 70 Christian pilgrims continues their journey to Goa, their hearts are filled with faith and hope. This pilgrimage is more than a mere travel; it is a journey of the soul, offering moments of reflection, prayer, and community. The meticulous planning and support by the Jharkhand Tourism Development Corporation and the district administration ensure that this pilgrimage will be a memorable and enriching experience for all participants. The return of the pilgrims on July 19 will undoubtedly be marked with stories of spiritual fulfillment and new friendships, highlighting the success of this noble initiative,” said an official.
