Class 10 students who appeared in the Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC) matriculation examination this year have outperformed their 2018 counterparts by a fair margin. At least 70.77 per cent of the 4,38,256 students, who appeared in the exam, passed this year against 58.48 per cent of 2018.

While declaring the results on Thursday, JAC chairperson Arvind Prasad Singh attributed the improvement in the result to the hard work of students and teachers.

“The credit for improved pass percentage goes to the teachers and the students. We tried our level best by providing model test papers and special classes for doubt clearance before the exams,” said Singh, adding that the special training given to evaluators on fair evaluation of answer sheets and step marking also reflected in the final results.

Boys outperformed girls in the matriculation results this year by achieving a higher pass percentage. The pass percentage for boy was 72.99, while 68.67 per cent of their counterparts from the opposite gender passed the exams. A total of 2,12,410 boys who appeared in the exams, 1,55,054 passed. On the other hand, out of the 2,25,846 girls who took the tests, 1,55,104 passed.

Left Wing Extremism (LWE) affected districts such as Palamu, Giridih, Hazaribagh, East Singhbhum and Khunti outperformed their urban counterparts in the exams.
