Not all shy kids are shy in their minds. This is the story of Shrinkala Dubey, a Class One student of Sarla Birla Public School who is the State topper of this year’s International English Olympiad (IEO) conducted by Science Olympiad Foundation (SOF) in her standard. The exam was held on January 19.
SOF conducts Asia’s biggest Olympiads namely National Cyber Olympiad (NCO), National Science Olympiad (NSO), International Mathematics Olympiad (IMO) and IEO respectively. IEO results for this session were declared on Saturday evening. This was the third time IEO was held in India.
In today’s age when parents find difficult to control their children, Shrinkala keeps herself busy with studies. “We do not have to tell her to study,” said her father Dharmendra Dubey, general manager in a Private Company.
The IEO is a one of its kind examination and first in the history of English language testing in India. It identifies the brightest student in English and prepares them to perform at International level competitions.
This exam is held in almost all schools in India. The first state topper is awarded a Gold Medal, Certificate and an amount of Rs5,000 whereas the second topper is given a certificate, silver medal and Rs2500 and the third topper is given Bronze medal, certificate and Rs1,000.
Speaking about this school’s achievement as a whole, Principal Ranjana Swarup told The Pioneer, “Overall nine students have bagged topper’s position at national level from this school this time.” As many as 150 students from this school and more than 2000 students of this region had appeared for this year IEO.
The toppers of this exam are felicitated by their Principal in their school itself during a State level Award Function.
Besides participating students and toppers, SOF also felicitates 70 Best IEO Teacher Incharge A wards and 110 Best Principals across the nation.
