All the private nursing homes, poly clinics and other medical facilities getting any kind of assistance from the State Government would have to set aside beds for the patients falling below the poverty line. The Cabinet passed the proposal coming from the Health and Family Welfare Department at its Tuesday meeting.
Informing about the decision, Cabinet Secretary JB Tubid said that the decision would be imposed upon all such medical establishments that have got assistance of any kind from the Government.
“Government provides support to private nursing homes, poly clinics etc in the form of land lease, tax rebate and other concessions. All such establishments would have to reserve at least 10 per cent beds in their indoor facilities and 25 per cent seats in outdoor facilities for the persons belong to BPl category who would be treated free of cost,” said Tubid.
The Government also provided Dushera bonanza to its employees by hiking dearness allowance by 7 per cent. The new rate of DA would be applicable from July 1, 2014 to employees and pensioners of the State. The Cabinet also decided to amend the VAT guidelines and has levied composite tax of 2 per cent on builders and developers.
The Government also hiked commission to PDS agents up to `75 per quintal out of which `45 would be paid in cash and the rest in the form of price of sacks. Also now the decision to allocate PDS shops on compensatory grounds would be taken by the licensing officers and not at the State level.
