Annoyed with long power cuts for the last one month, a delegation of citizens coming from different areas met Jharkhand Viddhut Vitaran Nigam limited (JVVNl) General Manager (GM) on Friday giving him an ultimatum of a week to improve the power situation in the city or a day long blockade will be held at the GM office.

“Handing over a memorandum to the JVVNl GM, we have given him an ultimatum of a week to improve power cut situation in the State Capital or a blockade of his office will be organised after that,” said RJD State General Secretary Kailash Yadav. Despite repeated reminders given to the concerned officials, they have not been able to provide power in most of the areas including Namkom, Hatia, Bariatu, Harmu, Ratu Road and Chutia for more than 8 - 10 hours a day, he added.

“Due to long power cuts, day to day life has adversely affected and it has become difficult for the small industrialists to run their enterprises and the life has become miserable due to intense heat in this summer season,” said Yadav.

Expressing concern over deteriorating power situation in the State, Jharkhand Chamber of Commerce and Industries (FJCCI), through an official release issued on Wednesday, also stated that due to long poer cuts it had become difficult for the small industrialists to run their factories in this condition.

“Only 10 – 12 hour power supply is being provided to Bokaro, Jamshedpur, Giridih, Dhanbad, Gumla, lohardaga, Pakur, Khunti, Deoghar, Godda, Sahebganj, Palamu and other districts of the State, that too in installments,” said FJCCI President Vinay Agrawal.
