In a bid to strengthen security in State prisons, 611 ex-army men and nine Jail Superintendents would be deployed soon, said Ashok Kumar Sharma Inspector General (IG) of prison Jharkhand. Sharma rushed to Bokaro on a surprise visit at Chas Jail on Monday. Though, increasing the security forces is a major challenge before the department so initially we have decided to appoint ex-army men on contractual basis, he said.

All necessary workouts would be done earliest to fill the posts of Jail Superintendents and Deputy Jailers by the Jharkhand State Public Service Commission and the Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission, said Sharma.

On the move to prevent extortion calls, jails would soon be equipped with new hi-tech mobile jammers and CCTV cameras to keep strict vigil on the jail birds.

This new hi-tech jammer is programmed on all these frequency which can be able to disrupt calls even from 3G phones within a radius of one kilometer.

Expressing deep concern over the scarcities of doctors, nurses and medical staffs across the state jails Sharma assured to employ doctors and other medical staffs soon.
