Six persons sustained serious burn inuries when an LPG cylinder exploded at a house in Kankachas village under Barmsia OP at Chas. The condition of three of the injured is critical, police said.
The incident occurred at around 8 pm at the house of Mithu Mahato; among the injured Sandeep Mahato (22), Bindu Kumari (18), Kiran Kumari (16), Jagdeep Mahato (4) are family members while Vivek Mukherjee (22) and Mahadev Mahato (20) are neighbours.
They were present in the house when the LPG cylinder exploded, police said.
Soon after the incident, fire personnel from Bokaro Fire station along with the local police rushed to the spot and doused flames erupted after the explosion.
The police are trying to ascertain the cause of the incident. The police shifted the injured to Sadar Hospital Chas where they are undergoing treatment.
Police suspect that the LPG might have leaked from the cylinder and spread in the house, and when one of the family members lit a matchstick there could have been a fire and subsequent explosion.
