Ranchi Municipal Corporation is planning to provide the city as many as 50 new bus stops by the end of this financial year. To revive the public transport system, the administration has decided to improve the city bus facilties.
To check the problem of traffic congestion it was decided to halt the city buses only on the bus-stops, but later it was found that the capital does not have had adequate number of bus-stops, so to bring the traffic system in place RMC officials have decided to provide the city with new busstops.
Deputy CEO of RMC Shailandra lal said, “There are only 84 bus-stops within the city out of which only 70 can be used, so RMC has decided to for 50 new bus stands.” He further added, “Many complaints have been received by the administration stating the need for construction of new bus stops. Due to some unavoidable circumstances the work was getting delayed. But now we have tied up our belt in providing all possible help to restrain the traffic problems.”
Jharkhand State Tourism Development Corporation (JSTDC) who has been given the task of running city buses also welcomed the step. JSTDC Operational Head Sunil Kumar said, “Once the number of bus-stops rise within the city, the problem of traffic congestion will be shortened to a great extent. The bus drivers are instructed to halt the busses only on bus stops but it cannot be carried out effectively as there is no bus stop in many places of the city.”
RMC has finally responded on the repeated complain lodged by the traffic police regarding less number of bus stop and lack of maintenance of the existing stops. Traffic SP Rajeev Ranjan Singh said, “We have written umpteen number of letters to the RMC regarding the problem. With the development of new stops congestion problem will be minimised comnsiderably.”
